Paper accepted to HVAC Cold Climate 2015 on Effects of Different Production Scenarios in a Building with VAV versus DCV system!

My paper has been reviewed and accepted to the conference on HVAC Cold Climate 2015 in China (conference link). The conference takes place in October 20, China. The paper deals with “Effects of Different Production Scenario (Heat Pump versus District Heating and Chiller) in a Building with Variable Air Volume versus Demand Controlled Ventilation Systems”. The summary of the paper is below.

Summary of the paper: The objectives of this research were to verify the operation of an installed system in an office‑retail building located in Sweden. The focus is on comparing the energy saving achievable with different ventilation systems with focus on keeping or improving the indoor comfort condition. The systems taken into account were: a constant air volume, a variable air volume and a demand controlled ventilation system. The energy saving was also analysed considering two different production scenario (heat pump versus district heating and chiller) in order to make the evaluation in terms of purchased energy after that an economical assessment was evaluated. The findings show the importance of continuous monitoring, the advantages of the choice of an advanced ventilation system and the weight that the production systems have in the energy and economical costs.

I have written the paper with cooperation with Francesco Errico. This paper was prepared based on Francesco´s Master Thesis which was supervised by myself, Michele De Carli, Markus Kalo and Dennis Johansson.

The conference paper will be available for download in October. Meanwhile if you are interested in this topic you can read Francesco´s Master Thesis (link for download) and download his presentation (link for download) or watch Francesco presenting his work (link to video).
