History of ventilation: interaction between ventilation, indoor climate and building design!

One of the most important figures of the foreground ventilation history was Englishman David Boswell Reid who drove the development of ventilation forward during the 1800s. Reid mastered the fire-driven ventilation technology to almost perfection with steam-powered fans and systems in many respects similar to the solutions we have today. In his time Reid realized perhaps more than anyone else the importance of the interaction between ventilation, indoor climate and a building design. His attitude was that architecture was to embrace and focus on the desired indoor environment.
