History of ventilation: Large blower fans ventilate prisons!

In Newgate Prison in London persuaded prison authorities to take up the ventilation holes in the prison cell walls. A large blower was installed to press the fresh air in the cells, then the state of health of the inmates radically improved. Blower fan principle had already been 11 years earlier installed with major impact in the fleet where the blower fans ventilated occupied spaces below deck. In texts from the past the ships were compared to large whales and the blower fans to the lungs. After the success of the prison installed blower fans in several buildings around the world, for example in Naples, St. Petersburg, and even in Lapland.
