History of ventilation: Ventilation with steam-driven cooling is made possible to cool buildings in 1870s!

In 1870s, the need to cool buildings was growing more and more, but so far had thus had to rely on the cooled supply air from spraying water, ice blocks or long terrestrial channels where possible. In the 1870s however chiller was invented, which gradually came to replace the previous solutions. Now ventilation air  could be  cooled smoothly. The first cooling machine for buildings was installed in a German brewery which was then able to produce beer even in summer.
