4x new videos: ESBO, sustainable buildings, certification and ventilation in BIM!

New videos from Latvia!

Videos from Swegon Air Academy seminar organized on 10th of November 2017 in Riga in Latvia on “Sustainable buildings for better indoor climate“! Our lecturers gave wonderful presentations on the following topics:

  • “Sustainable building design in practice” by Kaia Eichler, Team Manager Sustainable Building, Energy Management, ÅF, Sweden
  • “Sustainability principles and quality assurance systems for buildings” by Maija Krizmane, Riga Technical University, Latvia
  • “Ventilation system modeling in BIM from practical viewpoint” by Jurģis Zemītis, Riga Technical University, Latvia
  • “Dynamic simulation – an irreplaceable helper in the design of energy-efficient buildings. Practical applications.” by Alise Šulce, Energy Engineer at EQUA Solutions AB, Sweden

Watch the videos!

Kaia Eichler´s topic is about how the design of buildings is influenced by nearly zero energy buildings regulation and environmental labelling systems from her own experience working as Energy Efficiency Coordinator with office buildings and hospitals and with Swedish labelling system Miljöbyggnad. Kaia will talk about the requirements and challenges the energy efficiency regulations sets on buildings and what it takes to be certified by environmental labelling systems.

Sustainable buildings allow to save money on all life cycle, as well as provide comfort for building users. Since the construction process is complicated, the meaning is often in details. In the presentation, we will look at the basic principles of sustainable construction, as well as the international building valuation systems and frameworks to ensure a high-quality result.

An explanation of the BIM, what is the LOD levels, the applications, and practical work pros and cons of trying to design everything in a high detail BIM model. Available databases. An overview of the pictures and videos how the project looks like when it was developed in the BIM environment.

The dynamic simulation of buildings has many and varied uses, and a number of concrete examples of how the simulation is applied in daily work in Sweden is demonstrated during the presentation. For example, how to precisely determine the required capacity for cooling the premises, design a VAV, choose the most efficient heating and cooling system, evaluate the indoor microclimate, etc. You will be shown that the simulation program can be used as a virtual laboratory, where you can easily experiment with various engineering solutions, providing the basis for choosing energy-efficient and economical systems. Dynamic simulation programs ESBO and IDA ICE will be presented at the presentation.
