The Swegon Air Academy in Italy on November 27, 2013, with a topic on The European Standards for Energy Efficiency and Load Variability in the Air Conditioning Systems was a great event which many important Italian consultants attended.
Michele De Carli, a professor from the University of Padua, gave an excellent presentation on general framework of European legislation with focus on EPBD, partial loads in air conditioning systems and regulation aspect with focus on standards EN14825 and UNI TS11300 and UNI 11466, and followed by interesting case studies.
The discussion of 42 attendees of the seminar afterwards was mainly about who is responsible for delivering the required energy performance of buildings and HVAC systems, i.e. if it is a manufacturer or the consultant. There was a heated discussion on a reference performance factor from EPBD (which is expressed in a graph as in a relation of a reference performance factor to temperature scale) and the main point of the discussion was again if the consultant should give a warranty on a product´s performance. Also the consultants wanted to know more about the procedure on Eurovent certification which seems to be unclear to them.
