Book of full of fundamentals that every engineer should have is 2013 ASHRAE Handbook – Fundamentals. The book is published by ASHRAE as a reference for engineers working in HVAC and for professionals in allied fields. The printed edition is revised in a four-year cycle with one volume published each year. The book can be found as editions for SI I-P units, and available in print or CD.
The handbook deals with principles of psychrometrics and thermodynamics flows, transfers and flows. Furthermore it describers the indoor environmental quality and health including air contaminants and odors and energy indoor modeling. Another chapter is about load and energy calculations including climate, fenestration, ventilation and infiltration, calculations of cooling and heating load for residential and nonresidential buildings including energy and modeling methods.
Important chapter on HVAC design gives information on air diffusion, duct design and pipe sizing, insulation for mechanical installations and airflow around buildings. Fundamentals on building envelope consist of heat and air and moisture control in buildings with material properties and examples. Chapter about materials describes combustion and fuels, refrigerants and coolants, sorbents and desiccants including physical properties of materials. And in general describes energy resources, sustainability, symbols, standards and measurements with instruments.
