How to control that your air in a room is clean?
The VOCs sensor measures the content of emissions/impurities in % VOC. When an occupant emits CO2, this creates a proportional amount of emissions/impurities which are measurable by the VOC sensor. For an approximate translation of the % VOC to CO2 content. When the VOC sensor measures contents of emissions/impurities that are lower than the preset value; the air handling unit’s supply air and extract air flows are then equivalent to the preset min. flows.
When the VOC sensor instead measures contents of emissions/impurities that are higher than the preset limit value,the supply air and extract air flows are variably increased until the preset value or max. flow is reached.
VOCs sensor – how it works?
When one put a VOC sensor in a room the sensor will over time know the normally status in the room regarding the air quality. It measure volatile organic compounds (VOCs). When something changse compare to the normal status, for example increased number of people are in the room, the humidity level increases (or whatever other substances) the sensor will detect a change and tell the system to increase the airflow.
Sometimes people misunderstand this, for example if one has a perfume shop where there is very strong smell over the whole day in the background (normal status) and it is quite bad from the beginning of the day and if someone then starts to peel an orange, the sensor will probably not detect that.
If someone instead has a very clean room from the beginning, the background level is better and if in that case one person starts to peel an orange, the VOCx sensor will detect that immediately and increases the airflow.
